The USA face the fastest growing demand for data and machine learning engineers. According to The Dice 2020 Tech Job Report, they reach a 50% year-over-year growth of job offers.

Could data engineers be the key for unlocking the value of a company’s data ? The Dice 2020 Tech Job Report confirms so. Analysis of job postings and top tech hubs over the past year reveals five major skills tu fulfill this role: Python, SQL, big data, Hadoop, and ETL. AWS, Scala and Hive skills are also in increasing demand.

Finding the right candidate takes an average of 46 days but as big companies increasingly compete for top talents, this period is expected to get shorter.

The top fastest-growing tech skills of 2019:

  1. Kubernetes (82% of year-over-year growth)
  2. Docker Software (42%)
  3. Microsoft Azure (41%)
  4. DevOps (32%)
  5. React JavaScript (31%)
  6. data science (28%)

Among the top cities for tech, we still find San Francisco and New-York but Columbus, Ohio and San Diego, California have shown strong increases in tech job openings (up to 37%) too.

  4. Machine Learning Engineers (89%) – they were in the top 10 highest paid jobs in every major market
  5. Security Engineers
  6. Data Engineers (45%)
