Could the current sanitary crisis change the market ? Wheither in a positive or negative way, Covid-19 is definitely shaping new perspectives for most industries and increasing the need for top engineers.

Despite the global Covid turmoil impacting all businesses across the globe, many companies are feverishly hiring tech profiles as they want to take advantage of a new world that is increasingly shifting to digital as a result of coronavirus.

In California alone, companies are filling thousands of new tech jobs every week since the virus reached the USA in March. And even without clear figures, similar trends are visible in several European countries. Well-known tech companies like Apple, Adobe or Cisco, but also other companies in many sectors -retail, manufacturing, transportation, …- are radically rethinking their operating and delivery models through accelerated digitalization, ecommerce platforms, digital ecosystems, and of course increased home working.

Although some sectors like aviation and hotels will probably show mass lay-offs and hiring freeze, the future remains bright for engineers and tech profiles well beyond software and computer science skills. Complete production lines and supply chains will embrace digital components to remain solvent, leading to a breakout moment for most manufacturing and industrial companies. In all likelihood, a similar breakout will also affect service companies in a new search for remote working and distributed workforce.

Finally, business continuity and resilience plans are now top-of-mind in all boardrooms, creating additional new opportunities for specialized tech talents. Moreover, the coronavirus will undoubtedly force businesses to reconsider their outsourcing strategies and repatriate critical production plants from China and other low-labor-cost countries, creating thousands of new local jobs in the next 3 years.
